Videometrics is widely applied in the field of precision measurements and motion measurements. This paper, based on a test of a new certain propulsion, designs the method how to use monocular camera to get the aircraft motion parameters. This method has been successfully used in the propulsion test.In the paper ,the measurement of monocular camera photogrametry for the test conditions is given. In order to solve the problem, that the camera's FOV cann't cover the whole range of the aircraft motion, manual control method and automatic control method for the camera platform are designed. The main contents of this paper are listed as follows:1). This paper based on the introduction of the central projection model summerises several primary methods of monocular camera photogrametry. The ideas and the scope of the application for each method are analysed.2). For the propulsion test conditions, it designs the method of photogrametry: using tower junctions as constraints,aircraft's position relative to the camera would be obtained though the trigonometric function. Meanwhile, in order to improve the measurement accuracy, the junctions would be control points to calibrate the camer. The feasibility is verified thougu simulation experiments. And the procedures causing errors are analysed.3). In order to solve the problem, that the camera's FOV cann't cover the whole range of the aircraft motion, it designs two modes of controlling the camera platform. One is the manual control mode, and the other is automatic mode. In the manual mode, joysticks would be console of the camera platform by the DirctX components. It make the controlling of the platform much more immediate, precise and personalization. This mode had been successfully used in the test. According to the features of light blobs, which appeare under the aircraft when the test is carried on at evening, and the requirement of real-time image acquisition, it programs algorithm for fast tracking the light blobs in the image for the automatic mode. On the basis of tracking, the decision-making of the platform motion is formed. The accuracy and timeliness of tracking algorithm has been verified by using real test image.4). The paper introduces the hardware connections and the specific measurement flow of the videometric system by monocular camera in the propulsion test. Then the image interpretation is programmed. In order to get the aircraft's position and velocity for the post hoc analysis in the propulsion test, multinomial optimal filtering for white noise observational data is used for interpretation data smoothing process.
