Micro-lenses with a sPherical gradient index (GRIN are a new kind ofoPtical device. Their optical properties are chiefly depending on their non-uniformindex distributions. There are many merits about them. Howevef, the method ofmanufacturing this kind of lenses today cannot control accurately the formation oftheir index distribution, which greatly confi11es the aPpliance of their opticalfunction. To solve this problem, we have done some work as followillg described:The historic development and the research situation today are introduced in thefirst chapter and the chief contents and the iInportance of our work are alsodiscussed. In the second chaptef, tlle image aberration, coupling effciency and a kind ofcompound structure of Maxwell fisheye sphere lenses are systemic analyzed.A new preparing method of micro-lenses, Suspension-diffusioncopolymerization (SDC), is introduced in chapter 3. Some polymeric GRIN lenseshave been prepared by this wayIn cllapter 4, the radial distribution of refractive index of the prepared lenses ismeasured by the shearing interference method, which provides experimentalsupport for the manufacture of micro-lenses. The results measured are approachingparabola distribution.1b sum up, we have already prepared some polymeric micro-lcnses withcertain refractive index, which is approacl1ing an idea parabola distribution.
