| Firstly, a method to calculate the beam blockage coefficients is suggested. The procedure uses the average value in a range bin to calculate the beam blockage coefficients. By processing the EOO terrain data of Hefei, comparisons between the average value method and the largest value method indicate that the beam blockage coefficients calculated by using the average value method are smaller.Secondly, precipitation from the Radar Estimating Precipitation model (REP) are verified using a rain-gage network of 127 stations in order to show the effects of five methods: ZI , optimal interpolation joint of optimal interpolation and Kalman filter, Kalman filter, and average method. The results show that the method of optimal interpolation and the method of joint have the lowest rms errors and the method of ZI has the highest rms errors.Thirdly, two location data sets of rain-gauge networks have been analyzed by fractal theory. The results show that the increase in the measuring capability of a network must occur through its enlargement resulting in the fractal dimension increase. And the functional box-counting method has been used to analyze radar rain date to obtain the multiple dimensions of the rain field and the results show that the gradient among the isolines of fractal dimensions can be used to quantitatively represent the gradient of the radar echoes. |
