By applying such methods as wavelet analysis, EOF, correlation analysis to a collective of data set include AO index, NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data and monthly mean air temperature and precipitation of Chinese 160 stations, features of AO is analysised. Correlation statistics between AO and China winter air temperature and precipitation fields, summer precipitation, East Asian Trough, Southern Oscillation (SO) are also calculated, tested and explained. AO has a clear linear rising tendency and an interdecadal oscillation features. AO bears a significant relation to summer rainfall in the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River and winter climate of China. It's the results of AO's significant influence to the West Pacific subtropical high in the summer and East Asia Trough in the winter. AO can also affect the Indonesian-Australian Sea Level Pressure anomaly field so it can influence SO in some degree.
