Because of the particularity of the material which is stored in the LPG(liquefied petroleum gas) storage, To build the storage needs rock mass that is better than others. Therefore, it is very necessary to evaluate the rock mass's stability classification of the storage. According to the data of drilling and other geological investigation on the LPG storage of Jinzhou, and taking into account main factors that affecting stability of the storage and other classification standard, this paper selects five evaluating factors. Using pattern recognition method and muti-step fuzzy classification clustering method to classify. The comparison between the results and BQ values which calculated by the standard for rock mass classification(GB500218 - 94) is very approximate.After analyzing curves of the subordinate degree versus the depth of rock mass stability and the character of geological circumstance in this field, the paper gives the most suitable area of building the storage.
