Silt is a special type of soil which property differs from sand and clay . But siltdid not be given sufficient research previously , accordingly, there has not havesystematic theory about it by now .With the exploration of marine oil and gas , it has been found that marinebuildings instability relates directly to the property of engineering foundation .furthermore , there lies large areas of silt in the foundation soil of several massoilfields in many countries . Whether they are stable or not has an importantinfluence on off shore construction and the safty of the buildings.Based on the tests of silt in marine area of chengdao , silt's dynamic stress-strainrelationship , dynamic strength and their influencial .factors are initialresearched . Liquefaction of silt , including mechanism , speciality and pattern ,is also discussed .Liquefaction potential induced by Seismic and wave are calculated separately .For the first time , liquefaction areas in 7, 8, 9 degree of seismic intensity arepartition , dynamic bearing capacity and sinking value due to earthquake arecalculated by experimental formula .The purpose of this thesis is to provide references for selecting site andfoundation design of marine engineering in this area.
