Spider of the families Agelenidae and Amaurobiidae are important natural enemies of insect pests in the farmland and forest. Up to now, 489 species belonging to 42 genera of Agelenidae and 590 species belonging to 67 genera of Amaurobiidae have been reported all over the world. Among them, 21 species of 4 agelenid genera and 155 species of 18 amaurobiid genera are known from our fauna. The present paper deals with 32 species belonging to 18 genera of the families Agelenidae and Amaurobiidae from China, of which 1 genus and 11 species are new to science. The males of Coelotes nariceus, Coelotes brunneus and Coelotes xizangensis are described for the first time. The species Agelena difficilis, Agelena donggukemis, Agelena graeilens and Agelena opulent a are transferred to the newly erected genus Alloagelena. Titanoeca palpal or is transferred to the genus Tamgrinia; Coelotes nariceus is transferred to the genus Amhanus', Coelotes plancyi is transferred to the genus Asiaeoelotes; Coelotes brunneus is transferred to the genus Draeonarius: Coelotes xizangensis is transferred to the genus Himalcoelotes. Besides, Agelena claoxiunensis and Agelena lungehis are both synonymized with Agelena limbata. Agelena choi is considered a junior synonym of Alloagelena gracilens. Coelotes jucundus is newly synonymized with Asiacoelotes plancyi; Coelotes gypsarpageus is synonymized with Coelotes modestus: Coelotes yanling and Draeonarus parawudangensis are synonymized with Coronilla gemala and Draeonarus wudangensis respectively.A brief historical review, morphological characteristics, and natural history of two families are presented.
