Research Of Tideland Reclamation In Fujian Province Based On RS And GIS

The tidal wetland ecosystem in the transitional belt between land and ocean is deeply disturbed by the human reclamation activity. Fujian possesses abundant tideland resources in coastal areas. The reclamation develops rapidly but there is little research into it. Probing into the emerging and developing mechanism of reclamation is one of the important components to realize the sustainable development in the coastal zone.With RS and GIS technology as support and with TM image in 1988, 2000 and topographic map in 1963 as the data source, the present paper monitors the trends of the reclamation of Fujian Province since the 1960s. Land use landscape within tideland reclamation area is classified by means of geographical knowledge and visual interpretation. The overlap of tideland reclamation in each different period presents objectively the characteristics of spatial-temporal evolution in Fujian tideland reclamation area, laying the foundation of reappearing the spatial information and its development trend of tideland reclamation in Fujian, Based on this, it probes into the natural and social factors of driving the tideland reclamation in Fujian Province, and introduces opportunity cost theory into the economic benefits evaluation of tideland reclamation, to make an appropriately comprehensive evaluation of tideland reclamation . In order to promote the reclamation towards sound development, the paper puts forward corresponding strategies and suggestions.
