Photonic crystals have attracted a lot of interesting in recent years due to its important applications in the region of optical communication and light information processing. The investigation about photonic crystals has been converting from theory to application, design and fabrication of photonic crystal devices. In this paper, we mainly investigate the design, fabrication and measurement of the two-dimensional photonic crystals and its devices in visible and near-infrared region, which should promote the application of photonic crystal in optical integration and optical communication. The integrated photonic devices based on nonlinear photonic crystal become the research focus gradually, we report some results of fabrication of polystyrene photonic crystal.According to the condition of the experiment and the demand of measurement of the photonic crystal, we study character of different photonic crystals and defect cavity by using the multiple-scattering method. Based on the fabricating technology, we design different photonic crystal in visible and near-infrared region. We attain structure parameter about photonic crystal suitable for optical switching .The results offer evidence for the experiment.We study the fabricating technology of two-dimensional polystyrene photonic crystal. We gain the good results. The properties of two-dimensional polystyrene photonic crystal is measured.The works on three-order nonlinear photonic crystal are as follows: We improve the fabricating technology of three-dimensional polystyrene photonic crystal. We attained very good three-dimensional polystyrene photonic crystal. The thickness of polystyrene photonic crystal is about 2-3 um, its transmission in band gap is about 5 % and its transmission in pass band is about 65 % . This result is prior to the previous reports.Tunable three-dimensional photonic crystal with ps time response is realized based on colloidal polystyrene crystal. The photonic bandgap shifts 13nm. This has important applications in optical communication and light information processing.The content of this thesis is as follows. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of conception of photonic crystal and the developing situation of the nonlinear optical properties.In the second chapter, the optical switching properties are described. We attain the shift of photonic crystal bandgap and defect pattern. This offers evidence for the experiment result. Two-dimensional polystyrene photonic crystal is study in the three chapter. In the fourth chapter, three-dimensional polystyrene photonic crystals are study in detail. The main conclusions are given in the last chapter.
