In this paper, the nature of polymer flows through porous media has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. At first, the rheology of polymer dilute solutions in porous media is studied. Secondly, those most remarkable results and advances on this aspect achieved during the last few years are summarized and reviewed in detail. At last, a new mesoscopic model on the dynamics of polymer flows through porous media is brought forward on the basis of the former analysis, at the same time, the dynamic equation is also derived. The close relationship between the problem of polymer flows through porous media and other dynamical phenomena is rooted out after further analysis and discussions about the objective equation. Some related experiments of a few typical aqueous polymers through porous media are performed on theself-made device. The experimental results coincide fundamentally with the predictions of theoretical analysis in chapters and show that extension thickening behavior is the distinguished characteristic of polymer flows through porous media.
