The Boundary Radii of Excited Atoms and IonsThe boundary radii of excited atoms and ions are defined by the classical turning point of the electron moving in an atom. By using an accurate ab MELD program and an auxiliary program, the potential felt by an electron has been evaluated. According to our model and definition, the boundary radii of the first excited state of atoms from first- to fifth-row in the periodic table and those of main group elements from H to Xe which stay from the second excited state to the sixth excited state are obtained. In this thesis, the boundary radii of the first excited univalent ions and divalent ions are also evaluated. This theory provides a kind of new method for describing the boundary radii of the excited atoms and ions.
