If an atom is placed in the electric field, the symmetry of the atom must change. Based on the atomic boundary model that Yang et al. had put forward, we establish a characteristic boundary contour model for an atom in the electric field. Using MELD ab initio program and programs designed by ourselves, we compute the boundary contours of elements from H to Xe in periodic table under the 106~ 108v/m electric field. We get the data of the boundary contours for the atoms in the electric field. According to the data that we obtain the graphs of boundary contours of the atoms in the electric field. There are close connection between mean variation rate of the atom' boundary radii and radii of atom. Besides that, we get mean variation rate of the atom' boundary radii data in the electric field. There is a good relativity as to the value of experimental atomic polarizability data. It can provide a kind of extremely valuable reference to predict atomic polarizability of atom. |
