In order to realize the high-precision pointing and tracking of Yunnan Solar Telescope (YNST) , the control system is analyzed in detail from mathematic and physical simulation in the paper. According to the method usually used in control engineering, the analysis and design of the control system in theory are carried out with typical Model I and II systems. In empiric way, experiments have been conducted for current step response, velocity step response and positional PID control arithmetic for the 1:3 model system.There is an image field rotation during the tracking process of an Altazimuth telescope. From a new point of view, the image field rotation for the auto guide unit in the YNST is analyzed thoroughly and its formula derived. Based on the method and the formula, the image field rotation of the spectrum cylinder is inferred.In the first chapter the derivation of the formula for the image field rotation of the auto guide unit and the analyses of the image field rotation of the spectrum cylinder in YNST are described. In the second chapter the various parts in the YNST's control system are analyzed and described by using individual transfer function, and finally the transfer function of the entire control system for the YNST is obtained. In the third chapter, according to the model I and II systems, the design of the current loop,velocity loop and positional loop is given and the parameters of their PID control are presented. Generally speaking, the empiric methods are veryimportant in control engineering, therefore, we have adopted physical simulation to analyze the YNST control system and accumulated many experiences from our work, as described in the forth chapter. In the fifth chapter, the YNST control software and positional PID arithmetic are introduced.From the analyses above for YNST's control system, we believe that we can develop YNST's control system in the days to come.
