With the coming of information age in 21 century, the Internet technologyis developing rapidly. Geography Information Service/ System (GIS) isapplied widely from desktop to Internet, from desktop to wireless, and devicesfrom computer to mobile telephone, PDA and palm, etc.Location-based Service (LBS) is a new GIS application in recent years, which is related to some new techniques, such as GIS, wireless, Internet, communications, software, etc. Its application environment is morecomplicated than the environment of WebGIS. It is necessary to develop asolid and loose coupling LBS technique system in a simultaneous webenvironment and platform.GIS servers for LBS must response to the wireless or Internet users, anddistribute the related order or information to fixed or mobile devices in thedifferent positions through wide band. In other word, a new informationservice technique called LBS is introduced to locate, visualize, and managethe position of an object. The Web application, distributed storage, and compute spatial informationare becoming the trend of GIS technology gradually with the development ofInternet and distributed technology, which requires all GIS can communicateand interact simultaneously. The geo-data, service, and application areintegrated by a distributed and cooperated way in GIS application.Owing to data exchanging and interaction in LBS application, theDistributed Location-based Service (DLBS), can be realized by integrationand share of data based on mobile Internet and Internet. By Web Service, adistributed technology, it is feasible to achieve data conversion, data sharingor data warehousing in the GIS application. XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI,are included in Web service, where the transaction and data are open by the...
