Engineering Geological Data Management System Based On GIS

The purpose of engineering geological exploration is to provide project planners the basic engineering geological information and planning bases. With the rapid development of GIS technique, management of turning geological exploration data into information becomes a trend. Therefore, how to apply GIS to engineering geological info-management, and how to fully utilize the GIS's inquiring ,Stat and space analyzing function to assist project planners efficiently and effectively fulfill their job and improve their work efficiency become the current issue we are confronted.The author of this paper participated the beginning phase of the whole Yun-Wan freeway geological exploration work. After lucubrating GIS exploitation technique and reading plenty of correlative references the author realized that geological data management is of practical value to engineering project department. Thus, thanks to those profound data accumulated during previous explorations, the author developed a professional and practical GIS system for Yun-Wan freeway—EGIS based on exploitation flat roof - Arc View. EGIS is made up of Access and DBMS, in which ArcView GIS realizes the function of space data management. It uses Avenue language which is offered by the software itself and programming language-Visual Basic 6.0 to be the system's exploitation language. What's more, a re-exploitation is made to prefect the ArcView GIS so that the whole system can be better off too. The Paper has given a thoroughly illustration to the whole process of the system's planning and exploiting, as well as the key technique and realization of every modules. Finally, the deficiency and the prospective future of the EGIS are pointed out in the paper.The system aims to set up EGIS, and use it to deal with the geological data of Yun-Wan freeway so that an info- management on a throng of engineering geological data can be realized.
