Geographical Information System is existed in both space position of real world object and management of art economy information. Main objective of the thesis is to make user acquire useful information from electronic map existed and make the information change into the data of GIS. The main purpose of this thesis is to use the family to draw useful information through the existing electronic map and makes it turn into the data of GIS.The thesis analyzes a serious of important achievement studied about GIS and main trait of GIS in recent software field. It creatively poses the method that applies Pattern Recognition to GIS. The thesis makes monitoring system for street lamps as tested background. Because the system is about city lamps, the writer Recognizes streets of electronic map by the GIS component and obtains ideal effect. Therefore it verifies the correct and the useful of the method.Not only does the thesis detail GIS theory and method based on Pattern Recognition, but also it analyzes prevalent GIS pattern, data stores, and data visit and data index. The writer applies the GIS component to monitoring system for street lamps that really reflect its use value.
