Wetland, together with forest and ocean, makes up the three ecosystems of the whole world and is called "the kidney of the Earth". Because of the man-made destructions, which leads to the irrational exploitation and utilization of the wetland, however, the areas of the wetland are strikingly diminished, followed by the recession of its functions and benefits, also the severe thread to the existence of the wetland and the development of its functions. Thus, the protection, restoration and exploitation of the wetland have attracted worldwide attention. Due to various reasons, there is still very little research of the wetland in urban Fuzhou city and the surroundings. With the development of the construction of "Ecologic Province", however, great attention will certainly be focused on the ecosystem of the wetland.Our study is based on the field research. Combining RS and GIS, we set up an information database of the wetland in Fuzhou city and all around. Then, with the theory of landscape ecology, we conduct space analysis and fundamental parameter calculation, through which we revealed the features and rules of the dynamic variation of the wetland landscape patterns in 1970, 1986 and 2000. Based on the two graphic databases of the wetland dynamic variation from 1970 to 1986 and from 1986 to 2000, we, again with space analysis, obtain the transformation area between the wetland and other covering earth patterns, so as to reveal the trend and intensity of the transformation of the wetland in the research area. After an analysis of the driving force causing the dynamic variation of the landscape patterns and the environmental consequences afterwards, we raised the corresponding countermeasures of the protection and sustainable exploitation of the wetland.
