GIS (Geographical Information System, known as GIS) is the system that can managegeo-spatial data information. With technological boom development, Components GIS isthe new trend of Geographical Information System. With the global digital campaign,Digital Ocean is a part of Digital Earth. The numerous heat flow data were accumulated bythe marine survey and observations. However, how to manage the marine heat flow data inscientific style, and utilize it fully and effectively turn into an unsettled problem. Therefore,it is worth exploring deeply to provide a reliable basis for decision-making support.Summarizing the achievements and experience of predecessors, it is necessary and feasibleto establish the GIS for marine heat flow data from the South China Sea (HFGIS).In this study, the ESRI ArcObjects components and ArcSDE spatial data enginearchitecture are applied to HFGIS.Furthermore, applying Oracle 9i + ArcSDE database model to organize and build thedatabase, realizing the integration of spatial information management. The HFGIS strictlyfollows the structure of the three layers: presentation layer / logic layer / data layer. Base onthis structure, ArcSDE Geodatabase organizes and manages the complex spatial data;theHFGIS is developed by Visual Basic 6.0, ADO interface is used to link the marine heat flowdata to database. Two-dimensional table structure is used to organize marine heat flow data, and design model for their requirement, thus achieving a spatial data and attribute data jointanalysis. The function of the HFGIS include the document management, data management, spatial information operation, spatial analysis and specialist analysis. This HFGISaccomplishes effective management of the heat flow data and spatial analysis, implementing the original data management, multi-level analysis of the professionalapplications.
