Chinese Continental Scientific Drilling (CCSD) Program was one of importantscientific program in China's Ninth Five-Years Plan, and became InternationalContinental Scientific Drilling Program belong to International Continental ScientificDrilling Organization. CCSD aimed to drill a 5000m bore in UHP metamorphosedrock for getting geology information using continuous core boring technology withlarge diameter. Chinese Continental Scientific Drilling (CCSD) Program began onAugust 4th 2001, and finished on March 15th 2005. During 4 hard years, CCSDreached 5158m depth with 4.25m max core length and 89% core recovery.Drilling engineering is an important systemic part in the whole CCSD Program.Its success supply not only rich geology information, but also an abundant ofengineering data for development in China's drilling field. Thus, it becomes moremeaningful to dispose of and make analysis of them. From whole program, theengineering data of CCSD have two basic characters: first, engineering data both haveamount of information and is involved with lots of fields including geosciences,drilling and well logging;second, there are various ways to save engineering data,such as text document, excel document and written record. However, it is difficult forengineers to dispose of and make analysis of engineering data. Thus, it is urgent toneed a soft system that can make statistic and inquiry in engineering data, as well asadministrate them.The Drilling Data Statistic and Inquiry System of Chinese Continental ScientificDrilling Engineering used the server/client framework that is very popular indevelopment of network application. So this framework can both use networktechnology adequately and improve the efficiency of program. To develop this system,the first step is to collect engineering data for building database using SQL Server2000 database developing software. And then, the second step is to develop clientapplication using Visual Basic 6.0 application development platform.During one year development, the Drilling Data Statistic and Inquiry System ofChinese Continental Scientific Drilling Engineering have been improved greatly in itsefficiency of program and stability. So it has had safe and stable data managingfunction, effective data statistic and inquiry function and convenient graphic showingfunction. All of these function provided a kind of computer platform for engineer touse engineering data effectively.
