Yangtze river is the biggest river in china, the quantity of freshwater flowing in ocean is very huge, and it is middling tidal estuary. The estuary is comparative broad and shallow, is influenced by tide and freshwater, its terrain is complex, and salt intrusion is complex either. Based on the previous studies, this paper analyses the influence on salt intrusion in Yangtze river due to the building of There Gorges Project and The South to North Water Transfer Project.(1)Analyzing the rule of salt intrusion in Yangtze river and its dynamical character. Then based on the upper analysis, put forward the study of salt intrusion in Yangtze river should be ground on spring tide, mean tide and neap in dry season with low discharge. (2)Establishing ID mathematics model from Datong to estuary of Yangtze river, and then using it to study the change of hydrological factors in near estuary of Yangtze river influencing due to building of There Gorges Project and The South to North Water Transfer Project.(3)Establishing 2D mathematics model from Jiangying to off shore of Yangtze river, then study the influence on salt intrusion caused by changes of discharge from Datong in condition of low discharge and spring tide, mean tide and neap in dry season. Based on those analysis, this paper studies more about intrusion route of salt water in the south branch coming from the north branch, and then put forward critical discharge of Datong, when discharge is lower then it, The South to North Water Transfer Project will be run in consideration.
