On the basis of experiment, the article discusses such reservoir characteristics of S3 in East Block of Wen 13 and effects on water flooding development as follows:By conventional analysis technique such as thin-section analysis, lithology and petrological property are reveled. Pore structure model is set up. It is achieved that is porosity is middling and permeability is middling or low in the S3.The average porosity and permeability are respectively between 15.4~18.07% and 4.91~64.8×10-3μm2, The average content of carbonate is generally more than 10%.The type, content and distribution of clay mineral are studied through X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope. Potential sensitivity is quantitatively evaluated. In the area sand cementation is dense. The main clay minerals are chilkinite and chlorite with steady components. The rock sensitivities (include water sensitivity, speed sensitivity, acid sensitivity, alkaline sensitivity and salinity sensitivity) is measured in lab. And damage to reservoir by water flooding is evaluated. With mercury injection capillary curve and thin section, hole porosity and throats with their shapes and distributions are studied and porosity structure model is set up.With the new technology of porosity and permeability under high pressure, effect on water flooding and porosity structure with net burden pressure is studied. The result is the effect is obvious.Effective factors in water flooding recovery are analysed through microscopic water flooding experiment. The experiment indicates that there is no effect on swept area by added pressure and speed.Combining the above research and performance data, water flooding result and innovative approach are studied. It is achieved that not good physical property is the main macro factor and deep reservoir with net high burden pressure is the secondary one. Heterogeneous pore structure is the intrinsic factor that effects result of water flooding development.
