The north-finder plays an important role in navigation area as it can provide orientation benchmark. On the basis of the basic fundamental of the rotary North-Finder based on Ring Laser Gyroscope, this paper does research on how to improve the north-finding precision. Firstly, According to the noise characteristic, the Allan variance analysis method is introduced to establish the RLG performance estimating method in the time domain, and the method's applicability is analyzed; Secondly, this paper does the modeling and error analysis of the rotary North-Finder based on RLG, and studies the continuous rotation north-find mode and multi-position north-find mode, then the oneness between the two modes is analyzed; To make use of the Kalman filter method in the data processing, this paper constructs the ARMA module for the RLG's output noise by the method of two-segment RLS-RELS, and the module's stability is discussed; On this basis, this paper tries many possible methods to improve the precision, and the simulation result of domestic relational paper inboard is evaluated. In the end, An improved multi-position north-find mode is proposed, the theoretic conclusion and the simulation result all indicate that this mode has a high precision, which makes this mode possess a good foreground in the project area.
