There is a significant change in the understanding of network traffic recently, the data traffic with a great burstiness is not stationary. It has been found in numerous studies that data traffic in high-speed networks exhibits self-similarity that cannot be captured by traditional models, but self-similar models with the characteristic of the long-range dependence and the slow-reduction variance can catch the development of the telecommunications, for the results with the help of the self-similar models will be closed to the real ones, so the self-similar models have been greatly developed.The self-similarity is an important characteristic of network traffic, it bring some significant influence to the performance of the network, and it can calculate accurately out queuing performance and jitter, especially, the queuing analysis when being heavily loaded in the network.
