Research On Transgenic Technology Social Control

Biotechnology is playing a significant role in the twenty first century. Transgenic technology, being one of the core technologies in the filed of biotechnology, has infiltrated into a variety of fields, such as industry, agriculture, medical care and so forth in the past 20 years since its born. It has brought tremendous profits to industry, agriculture, and national economy. However, its development and applications have exerted a series of negative influences on food safety, biodiversities, social ethics, and so on as well. In order to promote the harmonious development of the transgenic technology, the society and natural environment, we should place a great importance on the research of the social control of transgenic technology. The selection of the method of social control is the key step of implementing social control. Presently, most countries are putting great emphases on guiding and establishing standards for transgenic technology, using laws, administrations, ethical controls and some other social control approaches. Nevertheless, none of these ways is perfect, and consequently, we must take some effective measures to consummate those social control methods and give full scope to them. The process of the social control of transgenic technology generally consists of five stages, including assessment, decision-making, implementation, supervising and feedback. Actually these five steps are influencing each other. At present, China is not doing quite well in the social control of transgenic technology either. The points above, to some extent, are able to produce some practical effects to promote the sound development of transgenic technology in China.
