Spectrometer is extensively applied in such fields as spaceflight, remote sensing, biology and chemistry, environment-protecting, astronomy, infrared physics, magnetic resonance, plasma diagnosis, and communication process. Thereinto, Fourier-transform spectrometer is developed greater more than other spectrometers because it has the advantages of fast scan, high veracity, wide spectrum, and simple structure. Fourier-transform spectrometer relates to interferometer, spectroscopy, modulation technology and computer science. It is said that Fourier-transform spectrometer is the spectrometer with the best prismatic technology. Conventional Fourier-transform spectrometer mainly applies the Michelson interferometer as interferometric device which need high precision in process and assemblage. And due to the great amount of computing, the Fourier-transform computation must be completed by computer. Thereby it is difficult to actualize micromation and firmness on Fourier-transform spectrometer. Recently, the polarization interferometer was coming out with the development of interferometer based on Wollaston prisms which has the feature of simple and firm optical structure for no moving part. And then the polarization interferometer was coming out which was based on modified Wollaston prisms with simpler and fewer parts. Furthermore, with the development of high-powered digital signal processor, it provides new means for Fourier-transform computation. So it greatly enhanced the firmness, portable and the ability of realtime analyzing.In this thesis, general theory of Fourier-transform spectrometer and polarization interferometer was presented. A new design was proposed for Fourier-transform spectrometer based on polarization interferometer with modified Wollaston prisms and TMS320LF2407A DSP. TMS320LF2407A DSP drives the liner CCD to collect interference pattern signal, complete A/D conversion, compute 2048 point FFT, and drive LCD to display the result. In this thesis, details on the configuration of electrocircuit and the principle of work were introduced, especially on the part of TMS320LF2407A DSP. And then, details on the configuration and flow chart of software, which controlled the spectrometer and completed digital signal processing, were introduced, especially on the part of computing 2048 pionts FFT.
