Four kinds of new butterfly control valve were designed innovatively. Both three-dimensional numerical simulation and experimental investigation were performed on them. The RNG k-ε turbulence model and SIMPLE scheme based on unstructured grid system were adopted in numerical simulation. The relations betweenrelative flow coefficient Kvs and relative valve opening θ were obtained bysimulating the flow of different valve opening angle. By analyzing the computational results, we got the optimal model with V-shaped valve plates. In experimental investigation, we specially designed a test-bed equipped with high sensitive sampled-data system, and also got the relations between relativecoefficient of flow Kvs and relative valve opening θ.The numerical and experimental results show that: It's feasible to design and optimize the control valve by three- dimensional CFD numerical simulation. Moreover, the results of numerical simulation are coincident with experimental investigation. The new butterfly valves with V-shaped valve plates have the flow characteristic of equal percentage. They can be applied to engineering.Lastly, standardization and seriation of the butterfly valves with V-shaped valve plates were performed.
