Fifty-one Cellulase-Producing strains were isolated from the 12 samples of the Giant Panda "Xiangxiang" returned to wild, afforded by China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center, Wolong Sichuan. 8 strains were selected for their better Cellulase-Producing ability. Among them a Facultative Anaerobic strain producing a large amount of Cellulase was selected. By testing morphologic and physiological-biochemical characteristics the strain was identified as Serratia. We call it Serratia JF-1116.The cells of Serratia JF-1116 are Gram-negative and the shape of single cell is pole, its size is 0.5~0.8μm × 0.9~2.0μm. The strain is Facultative Anaerobic and mobility. JF-1116 can grow in the temperature range 20℃~37℃ and its optimum temperature is 28℃. The strain can make use of Glucose to produce acid and gas. It also can make use of D-aeabinose, D-xylose, D-mannose, D-galactose, D-lactose, D-fructose, D-maltose, D-sucrose, D-sorbose and D-rhamnose to produce acid. JF-1116 can make use of citrate and propionate. Its' catalase test and gelatin test are positive. The result of nitrate reduction test is positive, and M.R is negative. The V.P...
