There is more abundant geothermal resource in the eastern plain of Handan, but geothermic exploitation has just begun in this area. With the fast economical development, the exploitation and utilization of geothermal resource will certainly arouse people's universal interest and high regard.The eastern plain of Handan is researched in this paper. Based on information collection, field investigation and new achievement analysis on the plain, stratotectonic background, hydrogeological features in the heat reservoir strata, geochemical features of geothermal water, and the type and form mechanism of geothermal field are comprehensively expatiated. The reserve of the geothermal resource is estimated. For the first time, geologic features and exploitation conditions of the Ordovician graystone with reservoir strata are explored in the plain. Some scientific and rational resource exploitation measures are established, and these measures are good at the persistent utilization of geothermal resource and geological environment protection. The research results can be obtained as follows:1. The geothermal resource with exploitation value is mainly the group of Minghua town and Guantao town in Tertiary of heat reservoir strata at the entire plain. The buried depth of the heat reservoir strata in Cambrian-Ordovician karst cranny is deeper, so these resource are not yet exploited, but the buried depth of Ordovician heat reservoir strata in the area of Huang Liangmeng and Fengfeng diggings is not deep, and there is the good condition for exploiting and utilization2. Because of the alternate concave-convex geologic structure background in the plain, the deeper geothermy resource is collected at convex bedrock in which the heat is quickly conducted, and bring on the odds of geothermal gradient distribution. The geothermal gradient at convex bedrock is higher than that at concave bedrock.3. According to the investigation of groundwater well and geothermal gradient, linking to stratotectonic background, there exists six geothermal fields in the plain.4. Based on the heat reservoir water quality target analysis, the heat reservoir water in Minghua town is unfit for drinking water, but fit for breed aquatics and bath; the water in Guantao town is suitable for heating, breed aquatics and bath; the water of Ordovician is fit for heating and breed aquatics.5. In order to strengthen the management of geothermal resource exploitation and utilization, the recharge of geothermal water and waste water processing technology should be researched, makes the most use of the geothermal resource for human service, and completes environmental protection measures.
