According to incomplate investigations, there are more than 15001andslide points and over 10000 ditches causes by mud-lock flows, covering an area of 50000 km~2 of the area .Its wide distribution and suddeness offen lead to great disasters. In the past 50 years, human activation such as deforestation, land rechaimation, cuttivation on steep stops, unreasonable mining, the building of roads and irrigation projects and collapses of the mountions, which directly lead to increasingly frequent landslides and mud=lock flows. And the damages and economic losses caused by them have become greater and greater.Therefore, in the process of the sicialist modernization, especially in the strategic decision to develop western china. Kowning well about history and actual situation are very important , for us to do a good job of monitoring and early warning of landslides and mud-rock flows. Also they are strong and solid supports of china's economic construction.This paper mainly deals with a deep study of the natural environments and montain structures in the area of the middle reaches of Bailong River, explaining the main causes of landslides and mud-rock flows in this area. By analysising its laws and signs, it summed up some messures of monitoring and preventing landslides and mud-rock flows. By combining theory and practice.it analysis the countermeasures of landslides and mud-rock flows, and by the use of scientific research methods combined with the successful experience of the mass prevention of soil erosion, it puts forward a countemeasure that is based mainly on roads and waterways, using the soil and water conservation measures and configurating resources in accordiance with changes in the geographical differences.
