The development of space technology indicates the level of science and technology, integrated power of a nation, and it has military and political meaning. The research on space object catalogue method and establishment of space object database are the keys of space surveillance system. Because the database involves a great deal of various data storing and sharing, so studying the catalogue helps to data processing, analyzing, indexing and extending to warning and predicting.This thesis starts with analyzing the background, meaning, and technology on space surveillance, and works as follows:1. The attributes of satellite, including orbital characteristics, physics traits and the others, are analyzed in detail;2. The different standards and methods for space object classification are discussed, and a novel classification method for satellite based on the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) is proposed;3. The content and character of the information of space object are analyzed, and the statistic of the orbit information of all satellites, the satellites of single kind, and one satellite are performed and analyzed individually;4. A real time space surveillance system based on web and database technology has been developed, and it can realize downloading automatically and updating TLE data based on TCP/IP protocol.
