With people's untiring research in GPS technology, the applications of it have expanded in many aspect of civilian economy. The standard services based on C/A code supplied by Single frequency GPS receivers can not fulfill user's higher and higher requirements in precision and speed. In these years, with the development of the technology of rapid precision positioning methods called RTK (Real Time Kinematic) and computer, the requirement in precision and speed can be achieved. This paper did some researches in the feasibility of single frequency GPS RTK. It includes such contents:① Introduced the history of GPS RTK technology and some typical methods.These methods include Quasi-Kinematic method, Antenna Swapping method,FARA method, AFM method, Optimized Cholesky Decomposition,LAMBDA method, LSAST method, and so on. ② Constructed the observation model of GPS carrier phase based on the theoryof GPS carrier phase measurement. Then got the position solving methodsand schedule.③ Solving the problem of ambiguity integers can be separated into two steps: getting the float solution for ambiguity integers and the searching methods for ambiguity integers. About the first step, this paper introduced two methods, including differential GPS method based on standard GPS services and sequential least square estimation with eliminating local parameters. As to the searching methods for ambiguity integers, this paper introduced Optimized Cholesky Decomposition, LAMBDA method, LSAST method, and so on.④ Combined with former methods, this paper compared their means, results and analyzed their advantages and disadvantages, and getting their using realm. This analysis can be the basis for the method of solar automatic tracking solution.⑤ Introduced the GPS RTK technology to the realm of solar automatic tracking solution. Constructed the position model of the sun, made the scheme of focuser gesture control, established the tracking flow, and filtered methods for ambiguity integers under the standard of solar tracking requirements.⑥ Chose sequential least square estimation with eliminating local parameters method and Optimized Cholesky Decomposition as the ambiguity integers solution for solar automatic tracking simulation. The results of the simulation concluded that GPS RTK technology fulfill the requirements in precision and speed for solar automatic tracking. The method has a brilliant applied foreground.
