The basic industry of the Northeast is abundant, the city is distributed intensively. The intensive city has built the good foundation for the formation and development of the urban area of the Northeast, this also is an advantage of regional economic development of the Northeast. With the development of globalization and urbanization, the competition between the area and country is developing into the competition among cities day by day. Because the city has occupied the core status in the economy and social development framework, the urban competitiveness has already become key point of the whole competition system, so knowing urban competitiveness, promoting urban competitiveness have important meaning whether to urban itself or to its affiliated country and area.Spatial analysis is the core of GIS, it is the key point that GIS is different from the general spatial database, through spatial analysis, not only may know the data in the database, moreover may promulgate more profound, more intrinsic rule and characteristic through these data. special contribution of spatial analysis lies in it to profit from the method and tool of correlative social sciences, has provided the method to accurately know, appraise and synthetically understand spatial position and the spatial mutually affects, the spatial analysis technology already obtains the wide spread application in the quite widespread domain.Regarding the issue of Northeastern urban competitiveness, utilize the method which synthesizes GIS technology and exploratory spatial data analysis(ESDA) to study the spatial distribution characteristic and spatial dynamic evolvement, in order to reveal the spatial autocorrelation and spatial disparity.
