Since Roentgen discovered the X-ray and firstly used in the clinic diagnoses, and then started to discuss some X-ray's characteristics such as generation,radiation and penetrability. With the aid of X-ray, the development of medicine,mineralogy and metallurgy came into new eras. X-ray's techniques have been applied to many fields, and X-ray equipment developed quickly during over 100 years. High frequency technology has been widely applied to power supply. So, it is possible to make high frequency power supply for X-ray diffractometer.In this paper, background,research status and significance about high frequency power supply for X-ray diffractometer are analyzed. Also the working principle and power supply's requirement of X-ray diffractometer and its working principle are described. A high frequency high voltage power supply has been designed and applied to X-ray diffractometer, so as to replace the traditional working frequency power supply. This new power supply system overcomes many shortcomings such as heavy,bulkiness and inefficiency in traditional working frequency power supply, which employs the technology of high frequency(HF). Pulse width modulation technology (PWM) makes signals stabilize, system self-controlled and self-protected to prevents all the parts from damaging in the accidental circumstance. It makes Power Factor (PF) up to 0.9 by the technology of Power Factor Correction (PFC). The experimental results show that the system can work safely and reliably.
