| Objective: The study aimed at investigating the relationship of the R16G and Q27E Polymorphisms ofβ2-adrenoceptor gene with obesity in Kazak and Uigur groups. Methods: The study was carried out in 923 Kazaks and 754 Uigurs who live a nomadic lifestyle and farm lifestyle in Xinjiang autonomous region of China. The R16G and Q27E variants ofβ2- adrenoceptor gene were genotyped by TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays. We wanted to find distribution of the frequencies of the genotype and allele among the different body mass index (BMI), and the relationship between the frequencies and obesity. Results: The results showed that the genotypes distribution ofβ2-adrenergic receptor gene polymorphisms were in agreement with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. There were no significant differents of both allele and genotype frequencies of Arg16/Gly and Gln27/Glu among normal weight, overweight and obesity group in Kazaks and Uigurs group. After the subjects were stratified with gender, the significant difference of genotype distribution was observed among normal weight, overweight and obesity of Kazaks male group (x2 =10.047, P=0.040), furthermore the increased trend of AA genotype can be observed in overweight group and obesity group, the difference was not found in the female group. Nevertheless the allele frequencies of Gln27/Glu in the overweight and obesity were increased distinctly in the Kazaks female groups (x2 =6.748, P =0.034) .There were no significant differents of both allele and genotype frequencies after stratified with gender in Uigurs group. After the subjects were stratified with gender and adjusted the age, blood pressure and, triglyceride et al, the significant difference of genotype distribution was observed among normal weight overweight and obesity male group( x2 =40.504, P=0.034). Conclusion: These results suggest that Arg16/Gly polymorphism ofβ2- adrenoceptor gene may be association with obesity in males of Kazakh population. |
