Research On The Design Of Tourist Web Map

The rapid prevalence of information and network, typically the Internet, brings the tourism great opportunity for its information improvement. Owing to the application of Web GIS in the tourist mapping and tourist map publication, the tourist web-map appeared. Moreover, the tourist web-map should be embedded into the tourist map website, for the separateness will reduce their great effect and importance. Both of them are great important for the tourism development in network ages. But because of lacking the study based on cartology and touristry, presently, their development has been blocked. Especially, no standardization of tourist web-map symbol makes the tourist web-mapping and its application very inconvenient, so the study of tourist web-map symbol system is imperative. Therefore, this paper makes a pilot study on the design and implementation of tourist web-map and tourist-map website.Firstly this paper studied the tourist web-map from the point of the theories: the concept and characteristics, the main study contents, the theoretical foundation, including cartology, touristry, aesthetics, psychology, and so on, and then concluded its design principles.Then consulting the construction principles of both paper map and electronic map symbol system, and also considering the web-map cognition and transmission environment, the author put forward the basic principles of tourist web-map symbol system construction, and set up tourist web-map symbol system.In the forth part of this paper, a new method------the user online visual perceptionexperiment was adopted to evaluate the visual perception of tourist web-map symbols, and the experiment system was established successfully, then according to the analysis of experiment data and users' advices, tourist web-map symbol system was revised.In the fifth part, according to the analysis of existing tourist map websites, the author concluded the characteristics, and brought forward the basic design principles of them. Based on all the above theoretical studies, Henan tourist map website was designed and implemented.Finally, the author summarized the research results and put forward the existing problems to further study.
