Design And Realization Of Pda Tourist Map

Based on microelectronics, mobile communications technology has made a rapid development, which makes mobile devices such as PDA go into the general population. And mobile devices-based mobile map is becoming increasingly convenient, and being applied widely day by day. PDA tourism map has many merits, but because of its own physical limitations, such as CPU speed, screen size, resolution and so on, the cartographic visualization of mobile devices has its own characteristics. Meanwhile, the study about mobile cartography almost focused on the technical side, without considering about the characteristics of mobile devices, cognitive characteristics of user groups and the mobile context, and lack of research on the point of cartography. The mobile map can't meet the map demand of the mobile users.Firstly, this paper introduced the concept and the theory of location-based services and mobile cartography and carried out an in-depth research. Then the author analyzed the status quo of theory and technical studies about mobile cartography, pointed out the deficiencies in the current study, and based on the research proposed design rule of PDA tourist map symbol. Take an in-depth study on the composition law of PDA tourist map legend and the user interface of mobile map, and raised the principles of map content layer based on the control of visual field. The method of visual perception experiment was introduced after the theory study, a visual perception experiment to some symbols and color performance of mobile map was made in the PDA simulator platform. And after experiment analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of current existence mobile map legend, provides a theoretical guidance for the design of mobile map symbols and legend. According to the experiment, developed WINCE based PDA tourist map visualization experimental system. Finally, the paper summarized the results of research and proposed research direction for the next step.
