Study On Gemology Character Of Changhua Chiken-blood Stone

Chicken-blood stone is one of the"Chinese Famous Stones", and is renowned as"The Queen of Stones". Changhua is the most famous mining area of Chicken-blood stone. This thesis has done some research on gemology, Mineral composition, and forming of the chicken-blood stone by modern testing methods. Compared Chicken-blood stone of Changhua with the similar jades and its imitations, analysised its processing and market condition, raised the standards of evaluation and classification of quality.The mineralogical research was made by electronic microprobe analysis and X-ray diffraction indicate that the main mineral compositions of the"Di"of Changhua chicken-blood stone are dickite and kaolin ,the minor mineral compositions are quartz, feldspar, alunite, pyrite, sericite, epidote, barite etc. Polarizing microscope observing shows that the Changhua chicken-blood stone for the compact block structure, micro lamella structure . Exquisite's degree of structure depend on the content of dikite-kaolin. Discovered barite in Changhua chicken-blood stone for the first time. When barite appears, the surroundings are always accompanied by quartz mineral lode. Considering barite often lie in the quartz mineral lode, the appearance of barite may related with the rock's silicificatione. The main mineral compositions of the blood are cinnabar, and the trace element are Zn, Fe, Se, Te. These element also affected the colour of the blood. Along with content enhancement of these element , the colour of blood turn black.There are little differences between Balin chicken-blood stone and Changhua chicken-blood stone in mineral composition. The main mineral compositions of the"Di"of Xi'an chicken-blood stone and Guizhou chicken-blood stone are quartz , the main mineral compositions of the blood are cinnabar. Generally , the main mineral compositions of the "Di"of the imitations are dickite and kaolin, the main mineral compositions of the blood are the mixture of red pigment and organic plastic.The processing of Changhua chicken-blood stone include designing, cutting, carving, polishing and wax or plastic sealing. Changhua chicken-blood stone through the whloeseal centers Changhua and Qingtian into the whole world. The price of Changhua chicken-blood stone mainly depend on stone quality, processing, supply -demand relations and regional differences.The quality of Changhua chicken-blood stone mainly depend on its"blood"and"Di". Can be divided into five grades: need, treasures, high-grade goods, mid-grade goods, low-grade goods.
