The visualization technique is such a technology that generates graph, picture and has the property of interactive processing. It includes not only the visualization of scientific computing data, but also visualization of calculated and measured data. The purpose of the research on visualization of heavy oil thermal recovery is based on the project 'physical simulation of combustion drive with data acquisition and the development of image processing system', which is entrusted by Liaohe oilfield exploration and development research institute. At present, due to restrict of measurement tools and work place, we can get limited temperature samples. So it is difficult to depict the temperature field efficiently using these samples, these sampled data density must be increased and regularized in order to describe the changes of temperature field exactly and organize these data expediently. Interpolation is an effective method to increase the density of data. It has been researched in depth based on bi-dimensional space. With the development of computer science and appearance of 3-D data processing tools, it makes 3-D interpolation and visualization come true.In this paper, we discuss three spatial interpolation methods, including inverse distance weighted method, radial basis function method and kriging. The advantages and disadvantages of these spatial interpolation methods have been compared, analyzed and discussed in order to give some advice on our research project. Finally, the three interpolation methods have been realized, based on the development of sampled data processing and visualization module. The Visualization of the three-dimensional temperature field interpolation results also have been implemented by using the professional software toolkits 'visualization toolkits'.
