Insect is an important biological group. and even some scholars believe that insects are the master of global biodiversity. Insect biodiversity is a significant part of biodiversity, which has effect on ecosystem balance's keep, biological control, crop's pollination, curatorial health care, light industry material proffer and so on.The insects which were collected in five different habitats (Quercus mongolica forest edge community, Betula platyphylla forest edge community, Corylus heterophylla forest edge community, man-made coniferous forest edge community and riverside meadow community) from Heilihe National Natural Reserve in Chifeng of inner Mongolia were investigated systematically eight times from June to October in 2007. The feature of community was analyzed on many aspects, such as species composition, individual number, diversity, predominance centralization, enenness, abundance and fauna element. The similarity of insect community in five habitats is studied by using similarity coefficient and clustering analysis. In five habitas from Heilihe National Natural Reserve, more than 4000 insect specimens had been collected, which belonged to 11 orders, 65 families, 176 genera and 223 species. The main fauna elements are Palearctic species. Special species weren't been found in this area. The study showed that the species and amount of community composition in different habitats were dissimilarity the order that variation order was Quercus mongolica forest edge community, riverside meadow community, Corylus heterophylla forest edge community, Betula platyphylla forest edge community, and man-made coniferous forest edge community. Time variation of occurrence, development and fadeaway of different kind of insect in different habitats are different, and it indicates that flexibility exists among life circle, habitat of insect and season variation. It was showed by statistical analysis that diversity index (H′), uniformity index (J) and abundance index (E) of insect community in five habitats are consistent along with time changes and opposite to C approximately. As a whole, the diversity index(H′) of Quercus mongolica forest edge community is the highest and in man-made coniferous forest edge community diversity index (H′) was the lowest. The five community parameters of groups, individuals, index H', index J, index C and index E are used used for similarity and clustering analysis, the consistent results showed that the five communities were dissimilary. The similarity coefficient(0.2462) between Quercus mongolica forest edge community and the man-made coniferous forest edge community was the lowest. The similarity coefficient(0.4155) between Quercus mongolica forest edge community and Corylus heterophylla forest edge community was the highest...
