In this paper, the perpheral areas of Guangli are Guangli oil field's western region, located in the eastern region of Dongying Depression, whose fault system is well-developed. On the base of the study on the fault geometry characteristics, the assemble pattern of the faults on the plane and profile have been fine analyzed. Applying of balanced section technique the tectonic evolution history was restored. On this basis, the extension amount and extensional proportion have been calculated. Then the fault kinematic characteristics of the target area was summed up in this paper. On the basis of conformational study, sequence stratigraphy was studied and one first-order sequence and three second-order sequences were divided. And one of the second-order sequences—Sq2(the lower member of 4th-2nd member of Shahejie Formation) has been divided into five third-order sequences, and one sequence stratigraphic framework was established in the target area. Through core and section observation, and combined with well logging data and various facies mark, we identified the type of precipitation facies of individual well and well tie cut plane. After these, we summed up the precipitation facies both on profile and the plane of region of target. Finally the sedimentary facies model was founded. Combining with geometry and kinematics features of faults, the control role of fault on source, reservoir, seal, caps and migration in the course of oil and gas pool-forming were analysised and generalized in the target area. The effect of sealing capacity and openness degree of faults were discussed in the course of oil and gas pool-forming. Finally, combining sequence stratigraphic framework, the distribution feature of turbidite sand body in precipitation facies and the reservoir distribution law, we found out that the target area main developed three types of reservoirs: lithologic hydrocarbon reservoir, fault-lithologic hydrocarbon reservoir and block fault reservoir. On the basis of these results, three favorable target areas were forecasted, they are northern area of Xin 168 well, western area of Yong 89 well and northern area of Lai 60 well.
