Changes of Bcl-2 gene's expression detected by FQ-PCR were to confirm regeneration periods in optic nerve-crushed zebrafish. The results showed that, the changes of Bcl-2 gene's expression in retina and tectum of zebrafish had obvious differences during optic nerve regeneration. There was a low expression of Bcl-2 gene by 1 d to 7 d postcrush, and then the expression was recovered to normal by 30d postcrush. This indicated that the expression of Bcl-2 gene could play an important rule in apoptosis of neurons in retina and tectum during optic nerve regeneration, and the changes of Bcl-2 gene's expression could be used to define the period of optic nerve regeneration in zebrafish. And there was high expression in retina and tectum of zebrafish by 5 d postcrush, even achieved peak value in tectum. It was earler than the time of optic nerve regenerated. It was conferred that neuroglia cells restrained the apoptosis of target tissue, and then afforded the probability to nerve regenerated to target issue.
