Since conjugated polymer electroluminescence was firstly observed by Burroughes, enormous development has been achieved in the field of polymer electroluminescence. Because polymer electroluminescent materials have many merits, such as simple device manufacture technology, low priming voltage, flexible display and so on. Conjugated polymer electroluminescence will have a wide prospect in screen display scopes which include mobile, television computer etc. With the development by several decades, there are pronounced achievements in aspects of finding new materials, improving luminescence efficiency and prolonging life-span of device and so on. So far luminescence efficiency of yellow luminescence polymers has already reached 35cd/A, luminescence efficiency of blue luminescence polymers has already reached 20cd/A, luminescence efficiency and life-span of Green red and yellow materials have met use need. However the life-span of blue polymer materials is only 100,000h, which needs breakthrough if they are used in television display. There are many kinds of polymers which can be used in electroluminescence. For instance, Polyphenylenevinylene, Polythiophene, Poly- pyrrole and Polyaniline and so on. But polymers, which are studied very much and have best prospect, are Polyphenylene vinylene and Polyfluorene. The following is included in this article:1.Firstly,1-methyloxy-4-octyloxybenzene is synthesized by reaction of 4- methyloxyphenol and1-Bromooctane, then 2-methyloxy-5-octyloxy-1,4-chlo-romethylbenzene is synthesized under the circumstance of acid. Finally, Poly (2-methyloxy-5-octyloxy)-1, 4-phenylene vinylene is synthesized by polymerization.2.2,7-dibromofluorene is synthesized by reaction of fluorine and bromine, then 9,9-dioctyl-2,7-dibromofluorene is synthesized by reaction of 2,7- dibromofluorene and 1-Bromooctane under the circumstance of base. Finally, Poly (9, 9-dioctyl) luorene is synthesized by polymerization.3.Fluorenon is synthesized by reaction of fluorine and oxygen under the circumstance of base, and a new Schiff Base is synthesized by reaction of fluorenon and 4-Bromoaniline.4.The structure and luminescence property of polymers are characterized with IR, UV-spectra, PL-spectra and so on. Poly(2-methyloxy-5-octyloxy)-1,4-phenylene vinylene is a sort of soluble polymer, which has an eradiation at the wavelength in the range of 450-600nm, the emission peak is 543nm; Poly (9, 9-dioctyl)luorene is a sort of blue luminescent material, which has a remarkable absorption at the wavelength in the range of 310-400nm and the eradiation maximum at 410nm is also observed; The new Schiff Base is an important ligand of Ir complex compounds, which has two characteristic absorption bands in 206nm and 385nm, but because of the function of heavy atom, the Schiff Base has not emission peak in visible light region.
