Taxonomic Study Of Freshwater Fungi In Zhejiang Province

Freshwater fungi are the fungi that the whole or part of their life cycle rely on freshwater. Freshwater fungi are a widespread and varied group. They include ascomycetes, zygomycetes, basidiomycetes, mitotic fungi .Until now, about 3000 fungal species have been reported from aquatic habitats. Although many studies of freshwater fungi have been conducted in China, we know a little .With the pollution of water resource, freshwater fungi are becoming threatened so much. It is very important and significative mission to be investigated and found freshwater fungi. Numerous resources awaited survey and discovery. The present dissertation is the first studies on freshwater fungi in Zhejiang Province, dealing with the morphology of freshwater in Zhejiang province.During the investigations of freshwater fungi in Zhejiang Province from Nov. 2006 to Dec. 2007, about 300 submerged woods in the freshwater were collected from Nine creek, Tianmu Mountain, Lishui, Songyang in Zhejiang Province .The specimens were brought back to the laboratory in the sterile snap-lock plastic bags and were examined directly while it is still fresh and moist under the stereo-microscope or incubated in the moist boxes. From these collections, 26 taxa at species level are described and illustrated which belong to 18 genera repectively including ascomycota (3), anamorphic fungi (23) repectively. Among them, 5 taxa are identified as new species, 4 taxa are regard as the new records for China, 17 taxa have been reported in China, including 16 taxa are regard as the new records for Zhejiang Province.4 taxa are new species. They are Sporoschisma zhejiangnensis, Dictyosporium zhejiangensis, Vanakripa breviscatena, Seiridium tainmunensis.5 species are newly recorded for China. The new records are Sporoschisma nigroseptatum, Brachydesmiella biseptata, Dictyosporium digitatum, Xylomyces giganteus, Nakataea curvularioides.17 species having been previously reported from China are redescribed and discussed. They are Sporoschisma saccardoi, Sporoschisma uniseptatum, Acrogenospora sphaerocephala, Savoryella lignicola, Caryospora minima, Phaeoisaria clematidis, Dictyosporium heptasporum, Dictyosporium elegans, Dictyosporium zeylanicum, Pestalotiopsis clavispora, Sporidesmiella hyalosperma var. hyalosperma, Ellisembia adscendens, cheriosporium triseriale, Aniptodera chesapeakensis, Helicomyces lilliputeus, Helicomyces torquatus, Exserticlava vasiformis only Pestalotiopsis clavispora has been recorded in Zhenjiang province.
