Present tectonic stress field is the important factors to control the regional stability and rock stability, and is also the hot and difficult point of structural dynamics on Earth. This paper reappearances distribution of the current exploration, explores engineering geological significance of the current exploration studies by numerical simulation the basis of on the study of geological background in Guizhou Plateau, analysis of the regional structure of power source mechanisms, and the establishment of geological mechanical model. The research resuts show.(1) The modern tectonic stress which is from Eurasian Plate westward extrusion and Indian plate northward extrusion since the Yanshan tectonic movement ,is the main power source expect for the earth's rotation rate changes.(2) In the present tectonic stress field of Guizhou Plateau, the biggest principal stress direction is the NW in most of areas. According to the relative value of size of the maximum stress, three stress regions are divided in Guizhou Plateau,that is , high stress, stress the transition zone (-low stress), and low-stress zone.(3) The dislocation phenomenon is often formed after the slope excavation of pit under the role of the greatest stress. The author derivates and recommends the theoretical calculation formula is estimated by use of dislocation level of displacement on the basis of the establishment of geological mechanical model.(4) Necking phenomenon appearing in the process of Tunnel, tunnel and drilling is the result of Maximum principal stress, and also the existing evidence of the high stress. The author derivates and recommends the theoretical calculation formula of initial stress values on Rock estimated by mechanical parameters and Necking in size of rock on the basis of establishing Geological mechanical model.(5) Tectonic stress has a great impact on the stability of vertical sidewall, Specially, the horizontal principal stress has the decisive effect to the sidewall' stability The author has established the simple target to appraise sidewall' stability through the theoretical analysis and the typical project-case study initially.(6) Tectonic stress field plays an important role in the stability of the region, and regional stability rating is the first major project siting issues. The connections between tectonic stress field and the site are studied through the planning and design of large-scale Hydropower Station in Guizhou Plateau.
