Nowadays the development trend of GPS shows that GPS carrier phase measurement is paid more attention as s a real-time and high-precision positioning technology. Detection and repair of GPS cycle slip is an important problem for GPS carrier phases measurement. The occurrence of cycle slip brings severe influences to calculating integer ambiguity. The result of the survey is difficult to reach the forecast precision. In this paper, GPS cycle slip will be detected based on wavelet analysis. Wavelet analysis belongs to the functional analysis. It develops on the basis of Fourier analysis. The application of wavelet analysis widely spread around in many fields of science research and engineering technology. The article applies theory of wavelet to the detection of cycle slip after discussing the theory of GPS carrier phase measurement and the characteristics of the cycle slip in detail. When we concern carrier phases, if they are regarded as the signal about the time sequence, we can find that carrier phases are recorded continuously. As a function about time, carrier phases show smooth curve to us, but this smooth will be destroyed as soon as cycle slip appears. GPS carrier phase observations are divided into high frequency part and low frequency part by wavelet transform with multi-resolution analysis. Then according to the principle of signal oddity detection, the location and value of the cycle slip is regarded as the bizarre point of the signal. The place of the cycle slip is determinated by detecting the point of maximal value. The different wavelets have different characters, and have the different abilities in detecting cycle slip. After the popular wavelets are compared through the instances, this article not only gains good results but also demonstrates the best wavelets used for detecting cycle slip in the terms of the theory and the practice. The article compares wavelet transform with general polynomial method in different sampling. It shows that this approach has a strong practicablity and efficiency.
