Dermatoglyphics is important in the morphologic study of primates. The researches have been highly focused on all the time in home and abroad, besides the researches are very thorough, and which method is relatively maturity. The main contents of this paper are the pattern types, the distribution frequency and the emerging regional of various patterns, to understand the side and sex differences and the relationship between various patterns of Macaca mulatta's palm and plantar. All of those can offer some evidence for morphologic study of primates, and hoping to accumulate the useful and credible data for the basic research such as heredity, evolution and classification etc.Epidermal patterns of palms of 55 Taihang macaques(20 males and 35 females) were examined, which were caught from the Taihang Mountain(Henan province, jiyuan) and fed in College of Life Science(Macaques feeding Factory of Henan Normal University). Using SPSS13.0 for Windows as statistic software to analyze the physiological index as the pattern types, distribution areas and occurrence frequency. The statistic methods include One-Way ANOVE, X2 test, Bivariate Correlations and so on to analyze the occurrence frequency of various dermatoglyphics.(1)The main pattern types of palmer and planterThere are 7 types of patterns on palm, they are O, A, V, L, Z, M and W. L, Z and W are predominant patterns. There are 9 types of patterns on Plantar, they are O, A, V, L, U, Z, M, P and W. L, M, P, Z and W are predominant patterns, pocket and press whorl are special in these patterns. We have to know the relationship of all kinds of patterns(2) The distribution frequency of various patternsThe result of X2 test about the distribution frequency of the main patterns of Palmar and plantar shows that there is no statistical significance between gender and side. Chi-square test is based on the morphological characteristics and rotating direction of whorl. The result shows that it is extremely significant differences between left and right sides.and no significant sex differences.(3) The relationship between various patterns of Macaca mulatta's palm and plantar According to the complexity of the patterns, the sort of the relationship between the main patterns is O→L→Z→W on palm and is O→L→P→W on plantar. The relationship between various types of patterns on plantar is more complex than on palm.
