Dermatoglyphics is important in the morphologic study of primates. The researches have been highly focused on all the time in home and abroad ,besides the researches are very thorough, and which method is relatively maturity. many scholars have studyed the populations and sex differences ,at the same time, they also have understood the pattern types, the distribution frequency and the relationship between various patterns of Macaca mulatta's palm and plantar. In China, these were more studies about the metacarpal and metatarsal , the weight ratios and bone length ratios of Macaca mulatta, but sexual dimorphism and asymmetry of the pattern ridges is little in Macaca mulatta. The main contents of this paper are the sides and sex difference of pattern ridge counts of Macaca mulatta's palm, but also asymmetry of pattern ridge counts.in order to understand different morphological features of Macaca mulatta's palm in Taihang mountain. All of those works can offer some evidence for morphologic study of primates, and hope to accumulate the useful and credible datas for the basic research such as heredity, heteromorphosis ,evolution and classification etc.In this paper,32 cases Dermatoglyphic specimens of Macaca mulatta in Taihang mountain (male 9 cases, female 23 cases)have been analysied. Age does not required, there are adult, but also minors.we measured and studied ten variables of the palm pattern ridge. the datas are analysied by SPSS 13.0.0 for Windows. statistical methods were T-test (ANOVA), discriminant analysis and principal component analysis and correlation analysis. The main conclusions and the results are as follows:(1) dermatoglyphics minutiae and sex differences of Macaca mulatta's palmIn Macaca mulatta's palm, we observed about 10 type of minutiae, 8 types often appear in palm.they are the starting and ending point, bifurcation and convergence, fragment and point o dot, enclosure and return. InⅡdistrict, there is no statistical significance between gender and side for8 types. InⅢdistrict, for the starting and ending point, and the fragments between male and female, there were significant differences. inⅣdistrict, there is no statistical significance between male and female.(2) the frequency distribution minutiae of in Macaca mulatta's palm The result of X2 test about the distribution frequency of the main pattern minutiae of Palmar shows that there is no statistical significance between sides and sex.(P>0.05)(3) sexual discrimination of palm pattern ridgesSexual diacriminant functions were constructed by mean of Fisher's method. The statistical test showed that the correct sex discriminant rates for Macaca mulatta's palm pattern ridges reached 100.0% by Enter independent together method and reached 92% by Stepwise method respectively. for sexual dimorphism of Macaca mulatta's palm pattern ridges , Enter independent together method suggested their higher applicative values in practice.(4) side and sex differences of palm pattern ridges in MacacaIn Macaca mulatta's palm pattern ridges, there is no statistical significance between sides (P> 0.05) , but in gender , there is statistical significance(P <0.01).(5) correlation of palm pattern ridges in Macaca mulattaCorrelation analysis showed that correlation coefficients of directional asymmetry among variables are relatively low,and are slightly related in Macaca mulatta's palm pattern ridges. In terms of relevant, there are more negative and less positive. For Fluctuating asymmetry, correlation coefficients are more negative and less positive.
