In China, Loess-landslide is the specific geology disaster common in the loess plateau. Because of the sensitivity to the water, the shear strength of loess will be reduced sharply when rains for rain-water have infiltrated in loess. Thus cause a lot of landslides and mud-rock flow. As known, one more half landslides happened only because of rainfall. It takes great threat and damage to the people s life and property in the loess region. As our economic construction develop rapidly and the enforcement of the policy of western development, the problem of loess-landslide has attracted more and more experts and scholars.In order to study the character of landslides, the cause and properties of foil slope was analyzed in this paper, which was followed by a study of the background, incipient causes and characterization of an actual engineering case-the Ma Jiawan slides. In the meanwhile, the shear strength parameters as well as the method and criteria for determination and selection of the stability factor were given. On this basis and using the Bishop's Method for sliding surface computation analysis and discussion of "Push"of the slide were done. In the process, software FLAC-3D was used for computer simulation and derivation of the sliding model. Comparison and analysis of the results yielded a conclusive judgement on the stability of the slide with accompanying proposals with respect to remediation. In addition, the selective methods of support programs and slope classifications were summed up. Then,from analyzing the choice of slope supported program factors,based on the research findings of slope treating, the basic methods of feasible program assessment was given. Finally,taking three typical landside projects of the Yan'an area as examples, the author discussed the slope supported programs, effective counter-measures and learnable experience on supporting slopes during the construction and development of mountainous region cities in the loess area.The study results contained in this paper are, to a certain degree, of academic significance and practical value and can be useful as a kind of reference for study on the slope programs in the expansion of mountainous cities.
