ArcGIS Engine is the new member of the ArcGIS 9 family launched by ESRI which is based on the ArcGIS 8X. The new features are exceeding the ArcGIS's components, therefore, the new objects, interfaces and functions have become the hot issue of the secondary development of the ArcGIS. The characteristics provide a totally new environment for the development of ArcGIS.The paper introduces the components, interfaces, classes and objects in the secondary development of the GIS, which do a lot of further research on the common use and new added OMD combined with the OMD that provided by ArcGIS Engine9.2. The whole design idea: firstly, the paper opens up the dissertation against the three main parts of the ArcGIS Engine, introduces the common used controls,toolbar, tool and OMD. It does the explanation of the class, interface and OMD comprehensively that used in the development of the GIS. Secondly, it illustrates the technology of the OMD, common objects and interface in the ArcGIS Engine9.2 which includes the Point,Polyline,Polygon objects of the Geometry ,the Display,Symbol object of the Display, the Map,Renderer object of the carto and the Workspace,Curosor object of the geodatabase; Finally, under the circumstance of VS2005 and based on the C# language, the paper describes the process of using the object model which accomplishing the partial function.The innovation of this paper is that keeping up with the developing step of the software. It dose the meaningful develop and explore about the application of the ArcGIS Engine9.2 which provides the experiment to the secondary development of the GIS software. It enhances the developing efficient of the GIS software and offers the valuable experienceth the second development of the GIS software.
