Analysis of physical and chemical properties of soil and change rules is the prerequisite and basis for the reconstruction in mining area. This article takes the gangue pile in Fuxin Mining Area as the study object, analyses physical and chemical properties of weathering material, and contrasts to local field, in order to explores the change rules of weathering material physical and chemical properties in the natural weathering process of coal gangue, and provides a scientific basis to ecological restoration and improvement of coal gangue pile in mining area. The result shows as following:(1) The weathering material of gangue pile has two obvious layers: weathering surface layer and weakly weathering eluviating layer. Every weathering layer thickness thickens with the increase of dumping years, the color and root quantity of weathering layer increases, too.(2) The saturation moisture content, capillary moisture capacity and field moisture capacity of weathering material increase with the increase of dumping years, the water quantity of surface layer is bigger than sub-surface layer, and shady slope is better than sunny slope observably. The surface layer water quantity of plot A is contained plot D 1.5, 2.2, 1.75 times in turn at shady slope, but comparing with farm, the water quantity differ greatly. The total porosity and capillary porosity increase with the increase of dumping years, but the un-capillary porosity and bulk density are opposite, which shows that the soil structure is improving.(3) The soil organic matter content, nutrient content, phosphorus content, kalium content and salinity content of gangue pile increase with the increase of dumping years, the pH value decreases. The soil organic matter content of surface layer is 7.2 and 4.0 times than field organic matter content of 25~40 dumping years at sunny slope and shady slope, the weathering material no has co32-, the pH value gets the same result. Both soil nutrient improves and the pH value decreases are more favorable to the growing of the vegetation, but the increase of salinity content has a negative impact on plant growth.
